BMW G8X - Driveshaft heat shields

Vantrex Heat Shields were developed to protect the original drive shafts at the differential from the radiant heat of the exhaust system.

Especially on modified BMW M Series vehicles that have been lowered and fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system, it has now often been shown that the boots of the BMW drive shafts become damaged.

During sporty driving or on track days, the vehicles generate a great deal of heat in the differential area. Due to this extreme radiant heat, the axle boots lose their integrity and begin to leak, while the grease inside the boot breaks down and the joint loses its lubrication.

In many cases, the overall differential temperature also increases, triggering the error message “Differential oil temperature too high.” This can lead to damage to the differential.

The Vantrex heat shields were tested under the most extreme conditions at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. A heat reduction of almost 90°C was measured.

The Vantrex heat shields are made of high-quality aluminum, powder-coated, and additionally feature an aluminum dome plate for optimal heat dissipation.
